Welcome

Welcome to my personal website. Pretty much, I talk about things that I like to do and use.  While I am a programmer by trade, you won’t find any programming subjects here.  Or at least I will try not to post any programming subjects. Well, I probably am going to post about programming also.  Heck, it is what I do.

Some pages are restricted to people who have logged into site (personal), but most of the stuff here I keep public.

While most Blogs have a general subject, like programming, pets, family and so on, this site is dedicated to all of the things that I enjoy.

  • Programing
  • Photography
  • Family
  • and cooking
  • General tech stuff and gadgets
Feel free to look around.  I tried to keep the site’s navigation simple:
If you need to contact me, you can visit me on Twitter, Friend me on Facebook or leave me a message by clicking on the Contact Me button on the menu above.

Ooma - 1year and going, and going ...

I have been getting emails from people to ask me if I am still happy with Ooma, so I thought I would leave an updated post.

The Coolest Puzzle Ever - CyberCube / Zen Magents

I was looking for something original to purchase for my kids this Christmas.  You know how it goes.  Most things you get your kids are played with during the Christmas break and then forgotten about.  I wanted something different.  I wanted something that wouldn’t require them to plop down in front of the TV or Computer.  I found it in CyberCube.

My Clothes Hanger Digital TV Anntena

OK.  Here is my homemade clothes hanger digital antenna.  Always looking to save money, I thought it would be pretty cool if I could feed my Dish Network HD 2 tuner PVR over the air HD digital channels.  Not knowing what channels I would get here in Redding, CA, I didn’t want to shell out a whole bunch of cash to find out I get nothing.

OK. No Bull. Ooma is here to stay

60 days into Ooma, here is my biased decision.

This will probably be my last post regarding Ooma.  Actually, I am only posting this due to the fact that I have gotten so many hits.  It’s not that I am unhappy with Ooma, but the fact that I still have a bad taste from good ‘ol AT&T.

Ooma 45 days later

I am really surprised how many hits my site started to get once I started talking about my Ooma experience.  Well, I have to say, I am really happy.  My only problem with the company is its support.  But, from the posts I have read, they were slammed with sales over the Christmas season.  And while I don’t like to wait on the phone or wait for an email, I am glad to see that they are busy.  Like many people that come by here to read about my experience, I also was worried about buying hardware and then having the company go out of business.

Ooma.. over 2 weeks and still going..

OK.  It’s been over two weeks now and I still love my Ooma.  I have been keeping an eye on the blogs out there and of course leaving my two cents worth.  There have been many blog posts that have put down Ooma.  Now, these are not Ooma owners, but just people commenting about a product that they have never even tried.

Many say the company won’t be around.  Well, I have saved $50.00 over Vonage this month alone.  So, by the end of February, the system will have paid for itself.  And, in the meantime, I get clearer reception then Vonage.

Ooma price break… Still

Check out the price Amazon.com has for the Ooma.  I thought they were going to be raising their prices back up to $249.00 after the 4th of the month, and they did for a while.  In fact, they sold out.  But, they are back and Amazon priced them down to $202.58. At least right now. Continue Reading …

Ooma, one week later

OK, I have made many electronic purchases in my life. I probably have one of the largest universal remote collections around.  I hate being the first on the block to own new technology, but I can’t stand to be the second. It is just one of my personality disorders. Continue Reading …

Ooma Update

OK. Well, I got the unit from Amazon and I couldn’t be more pleased.

First, Amazon got the package here in 3 days.  Not bad.  Ordered on Black Friday night and it was here Tuesday. Because it was one of the busiest shipping days of the year, I was a little shocked to see my package so soon. Upon opening it, I was really surprised.  What great packaging.  It reminded me of an Apple product.

Hello Ooma, Goodbye Vonage

Consumer VoIP startup Ooma launched nearly a year ago and offered consumers free phone service for life, all you had to do was buy the hardware for $399.

Just one problem. The sticker shock of paying $399 up front for the hardware put a lot of users off. And there weren’t many places you could actually buy the Ooma.
